THE LONG TRAIL.
The Germans are being taught to expect another spring and summer campaign,
It is, under the circumstances, not in the least surprising to read in the res port of the war correspondents at kend- quarters that the enemy are fleeing back to their next line of trenches."
h
This is all very good, but there mare to follow, The Germans do not yeu know the worst. I foresee a tremendous intensifying of our Tonbardment in the near future. ↑
"Just as the inferno we evented at Neuve Capelle could not be compared, to the fire and fury and flame of the Somme, su our present artillery fire, however, tremendous, will not, in my opinion, compare in intensity to fatore bombard.
nunts,
"If there is any meaning in our ex-
tensive munition preparations it is that our artillery bombardments will attain an ever-increasing violence, rising, as it were, in a perpetual crescendo."
