He was told that it must be endorsed and have a chop on it before it could be easlad. Prisoner said nothing and went away. He returned in about ten minutes with the bill endorsed and chopped. He was taken to the compradore of the bank, and on examination it was found that the chop was not a genuine chop of the firm it purported to be. The real chop had square corners and the corners of the one on the bill were round. When asked where he got the bill, prisoner said from a friend who was waiting outside, but the friend was not to be found. Prisoner was then arrested and locked up.
