The most determined atineks so far were made at all points on Sunday, but Long was able to repulse them, and also the further attacks on Sunday night and Monday morning. At Sam Shan, Lung's assailants lost 400 killed and at Kaotong thunder they were driven back in storm.

THE POSITION ON THE RAILWAY.

I had an interview with one of the officials of the Canton-Kowloon Railway. He told me that the railway from Shek ng-to the British border at Stum Chun is in full working order, and thai also from Tai Sha Tan, the Canton terminus, to Nam Kong, about 17 miles away, everything is going smoothly."

Only one train a day is running from Tai Sha Tau to Nam Rong, as there is practically no traffic.

Through the gifts of a few Chinese gentlemen a much-needed addition has heen made to the buildings in the form of private wards for a better class of Chinese. Of such wards there are Bow
