TRONE'S WOOD.
MOST OBSTINATE STRUGGLE OF THE WAR.
Losnos. July 13th.
A French correspondent says that the battle of Trous's Wood is probably the bloodiest and most obsituate struggle of the war. The wood is a mass of trenches, and was full of Germnatis. The British
launched a brilliant attack, which car rind most of the wood, and then the Germans furiously counterattacked several times. When the British yielded ground, a Colonel turned back, and, shaking his fist, said: "Wait, gentle- men, you will soon hear from us," Then the British batteries opened up, followed by another charge, headed by the Colonel We share his fist. A terrible matér ensued, during which the Germans were reinforced. Finally, after a six hours sweating hand-to-hand fight, the British neatly trapped the Germans by advancing in crescent formation; the horne, closing in, forring the enemy to rua to escape annihilation,
