KROEWOEK JAVA PLANTA-
TIONS, LTD.
THE ANNUAL MEETING.
The annual general meeting of the share holders in the Kroowoek Java Plantations, Ltd, was hold at the offices of the sacre tarice and general managers, Mears. J. A. Wattie & Co., Ltd.. Shanghai.
The Chairman, Mr. W. Davidson, said: | You will have learned from the report that the extensions to the planted area, to which 57.50 I referred when addressing
last year, Y9u. have been carațied out,
These extensions increase the orca, under heven to 1,655 acres, west of which is interplanted with robusta coffee, while the area devoted exclusively to robusta coffee now stands at 204 acres,
49.00
Of the 1,655 acres under beyen, 648 acros were in bearing at the end of the year and from this aron it has been necessary to remove a good many of the coffee bushes,
I need hardly tell you. I think, that coffes bushes, when interplanted with heven, become less productive as the shade from the heves increases, and that, in time, their 95.50 complete removal becomes necessary, as a 3.00 matter of policy. Such removal, however, 5.00 will be gradual, and we may expect to harvest crops from the interplanted aren for soine years to come, and, of course, From th, 201 acres' for many years,
The output of rubber, namely 66.788 lb., 46.00 26.788 the, more than the estimate-rather
a wide discrepancy, but on the right side.
The cost of production. I think, must be regarded as satisfactory, when it is remem bered that the average number of trees tappet increased from 9,000 to 39.000 within thin year.
This great increase in the amber si trees brought into the rounds is reflected. 16.40 of course, in the comparatively low. yield per aere, which averaged for the year only 271.40 133 lb.
3.03
For the current year I think we may ex- peek to see a décided increase in the yield per aere, and a corresponding reduction in the cost of production.
The output, for 1916, as you learned from the report, is estimated at 150.060 lb.
Your directors have sold forward about 20 tons of rubber at an average fob, price of 3/21 per 1.
