Nothing, by the way, is more noticeable in going through those war factories, than the enthusiasm and devotion of the work- shop managers, They are wrapped up in their work and intensely keen about, the results. They all firmly believe that they are doing better than anyone else and it would break their hearts to be beaten in the race. All managers and foremen in these war workshops prefer women to men, not because they are cheaper for they are not in the sense usually meant, and it would make no difference to the manager if they were-but because. they do their best to help and put no arti- ficial obstacles in the way of the highest resulte.
