FAR EASTERN MEN AT THE WAR.

On the night of the 24th our Colonel addressed the Battalion and made a fiery oration which moved the men a great deal. We marched away at 5 p.to, and arrived at our bivouack at twelve mid night after a very rapid march. Raiced all night so got wet through; it was miserable. We got rendy to move off al 10 am,

He is now receiving treatment in a hospital in Paris and he is afraid it will be some time before he can rejoin his Regiment, the 8 Regiment, d'Infanterie Coloniale.

When it became dark we took up a position in a line of trenches 300 yards at the front of Loos which put us about two miles northwest of Lens and Eve miles south of La Basice. At about p.m. we entered Loos and did a lot of band, however, so we retired to our street fighting. No reinforcements to previous line at foot of hill.

"Here I heard that our Sergeant major was lying wounded in a field with a broken shin bone, so went out with another chap to find him, strapped his rifle, and carried him for a leg lo little distance under fire to a enfe spot Here we improvised a stretcher with the use of two rifles and carried him for about
