RUMANTA'S ARMY, MOST FORMIDABLE OF BALKAN FORCES.
SPLENDID CAVALRY.
(BY THE MILITARY CORRESPONDENT OF THE "EVENING STANDARD"]
Rumania's is of all the Balkan armies by far the most formidable, both numeri oally and as a war-machine, although the present-day descendant of the Plevaa heroes and the Roman legionaries of old has still to prove himself in tried valour and hardihood the equal of his Serb and Bulgarian neighbours.
The Rumanian first line comprises aix, and not as is commonly stated-five corps, the sixth unit of this category having been set up in 1914 from recruits drawn in the main from the Dobrudja and the newly acquired territory of Silistria. Five of these six first-line corps could be duplicated by mons of the still youthful Four such reservo reserve formations.
HOW THE PARISIENNES DRESS TO-DAY.
[BY FRANCES KEYZER ]
For some months after the beginning of the war the Parisiennes took no interest whatever in dress, as was only natural from the fact that their husbands, brothers, lovers, had, without any weet ing, been called to defend their country. Over a year has passed, and many are in mourning, but the long black veils and the wide brimmed hats do not strike the public es sadly as they did at first..
