GERMAN FINANCE.
NEW WAR LOAN AND DANGER OS BANKRUPTCY.
Reports from Berlin (ays a correspon- dent at Zurich) state that financial circles in Germany are looking forward with anxiety to the floating of the new tierman war loan, as its failure would be a fatal blow to German credit and prestige.
The last loan was only carried through by wabilising the savings banks. The mori gage banks and the insurancs companies, But as the insurance houses last tins invested the last farthing of their reserves in the war loan, they may have no funds available. Last time any of them were only able to find the funds to subscribe to the loan by pledging the certificates of the first on with the Reichsbank. They can, of costese, repeat this operation. The Reichshank will always advance them 60 per cent, of the value of the certificates of the last loan, and this they can in turn invest in the new issue. But when they have done so all their subseriptions will MODELS us be triply nortgaged to the Reichsbank.
