GERMAN STRIKE PROMOTERS. IN AMERICA.
According to the New York Sun werdt agents of the Germans, plentifully supplied spread plan to promote strikes among work with money, are actively engaged in a.vide mea employed in the different arms and munition factories in America. Some time ago they tried the plan of sending emissaries in the emflageer of the sumie

One strike of men employed on the new buildings of the Bridgeport Arms Works has been disavowed by the officials of the Bricklayers' Union on account of "its atrange features. German agents are es- pecially active among the New York dock labourers engaged in loading supplies dios. tined for the Allies.

THE BRITISH NAVY.
„PRIORLESS SERVICE TO THE WORLD.
The New York Times in a leading article, makes a strong appeal for an immediate and powerful increase of the American Navy, Bays the Mora ng last correspondent.
England's Navy has been the world's bulwark of
defence against an enemy de scribed by Mr. Lloyd George as the mod formidable antagonist that has over attacked human freedom, the leader begins, asking what would have happened if the German Navy had destroyed the British Fleet or driven it to seek safety in British ports. The
article continues::--
The priceless service of the British Navy to all the uations of the world, to ourselvos, and to the cause of civilisation and human freedom in withstanding and crippling the Bea power of a country, that triumphant would have put as all i peril demonstrates beyond all possibility of further question the need of creating a strong American Navy.
ENVER PASHA'S BOAST.
The United Press of America on June 7th published the following interview with Enver Pasha, the Turkish War Minister, by its special correspondent in Constantinople, Mr. Henry Wood
“We have had a few prisoners on board our vessel. The officers anongst them were well dressed, hard looking men, while most their footgear being either rope-soled boots or Turkish slippers. Their rifles, however, were the very latest German pattern, except in the case of the Greeks and Arabs pressed into the Bght, these having only the old Lee- Enfields, taking German ammunition. The most troublesome enemy are the snipers many of whom have been found in dag-outs, with six weeks provisions. One man had painted himself green-all-over, and had branches of trees all round him, so it took q long time to catch him.
"One great thing is that we can get our big guns at the enemy and so help our lads ashore considerably. The Queen Elizabeth's biggest haul for a single strapnel shell is one camp, 500 soldiers, and six months' stores. She steams up and has a forenoon and after-
shot oost days, and bucks up the soldiers no end, for they pass the word, Come and see Lizzie kill Turks. She sank a full transport nine miles away a few days ago, firing over a mountain.
But you must not forget the other ships. The Aggy Weston (naval gun) ceta field battery, is worth notice. The unitery was plunkeri first shot with a 9.2, a horse shifted 300 yards, and the men 200 yards, while, as for the guy, they were just not."
THE CENSORSHIP.
DEFINITION OF APRESS OFFENCE."
A supplement to the London Gazette of last month contains an Order in Council embodying the decision of the Govern- mont with referencs to Press prosecutions which we announced in The Times of May 29th. This decision to create a central judicial authority to consider whether there shall or shall not be a pre- speution was presumably the result of the representations made by journalists upon the inequitable effect of the procedure ander the Defence of the Realm (Con- solidation) Act and the regulations made! under it, as exemplified by the Press prosecution at Portland.
The Dardanelles to-day are impregnable, as Gibraltar, and more impassable than at any previous time. Seddal-Bahr, which was de stroyed by the Allied Fleet, consisted merely
