2.40 pm An official communiqué staten that the Gormans at night attacked to the north of Ypres and gained a foothold in the French trenches. An immediate Dounter-attack drove the enemy back and enabled the French to occupy ground beyond the original line and also to take a number of prisoners.

Supplementary reports emphasise the importance of the defeat of the night attack delivered by the Germans, between the 20th and at instant, north of Mr & Mrs E, WIpres. Five hundred German corpses were found on the ground, and one hundred and fifty prisoners. trench mortars were captured.
