A Renter's message from Paris on the Already acknowledged 4th ult. says:
A remarkable operation has been per- formed in the French military hospital. A wounded soldier has had a sixth of his brain amputated without his tuissing it!
This marvellous piece of surgery was: described to the Academy of Sciences by j Dr. A. Laveran. The patient was brought in with a penetrating wound in the occipital region of the cranium. Splinters of bonic had caused an abscess" to form in the left cerebral hemisphere.
These were removed by Dr. A. Guepin, surgeon-in-chief to the hospital, but fresh aresses formed, and Dr. Guepin was:
