LONDON, February 23rd. Field-Marshal Sir John French states in a Bulletin that several counter attacks have been made in the neighboa hood of Ypres. The Germans, at o'clock on Sunday morning, exploded an olaborate series of mines, destroying trench, but a new line was established a short distance in the rear,

The bombardment of Rheims by the enemy was extremely violent. The first period lasted for six hours, and the second for five hours. About 1,500 shells were fired into all quarters of the town. The remains of the Cathedral formed a special target, and the edifice sufferad seriously. The interior of the vaulted roof, which had hitherto resisted, now burst Twenty houses caught fire, and twenty civilians were killed.
