LONDON, January 19th.
3.30 a.m.
The French Eye-Witness," in an nocount of the operations since the ath aust, concludes a description of the battle af Boissons by saying:
Our offensive in this fighting, which was of a purely local character, was Completely anccessful on January 8th, oth and 10th, but was checked from the 11th onward by the rise of the Aisne and the destruction of the bridges across the river. The enemy profited by the situation to attack us with great violence, with the bffect of forcing us back to the river and cutting us off. He failed. We took our troops back to a point at which,
in any etrcumstances, the destruction of the bridges would have, obliged us to establish ourselves.
Terrible weather continued throughout, Tain, snow, wind, fog and mud impeding the operations.
