POST OFFICE NOTICE.

THE HONGKONG DAILY FRESS, TUESDAY, DECEMBER 29rm, 1914.

Correspondence (including parcels) is being despatched as opportunity offers; but all Services are irregular and uncertain and all correspondence is liable to delay,

The Parcel Post Service to France is suspended until further notice.

The Parcel Post and Insured Letter system to Brazil is suspended. Notice is given that although every possible precaution is taken to secure the safety of all postal packets whilst in the custody of the Post Office the Postmestor-General cannot give compensation for any loss or car age which may be due to the act of the King's enemies. Until further notice no Letters, Boxes, Parcels for Belgium, Brazil, Crete or Montenegro and no Letters, Boxes or Parcels for Malfa can be accepted for insurance.

The Farcel Post Service to the United Kingdom is in full working cider in both directions by the long sea route.

The Parcel Post Service to Egpyt and certain countries men- tioned served by Egypt is resumed for ordinary parcels only:--

Crete, Cyprus, Greece, Italy, Algeria, Tunis, Switzerland and (Libya) Tripoli.

The Services to Germany, Austria, and their Colonies, and to the Ottoman Empire are suspended.

Unregistered Letters and Post Cards may now be sent to Teingtau:

The Public are informed that the s.s. Atle has been sunk in the North Sea. This steamer had on board the Mails from London via Siberia dated 6th and 7th of November, 1914, destined for Hongkong and the British Postal Agencies in China. There is no notification of the recovery of the Mail.

NEW YEAR'S HOLIDAYS.

On Friday, the 1st, and Saturday, the 2nd January, the Post Office will be open from

8 to 9 a.m.

In the event of the arrival of the English Mail from Europs the Post Office will be open for se hour for the delivery thereof.

There will be one delivery of ordinary correspondence and one collection of letters each day as on Sunday,

There will be a delivery of Registered correspondence during the morning of the 2nd January,

The Money Order Office will be entirely olosed during the Holidays.

The Dumbes, with the FRENCH MAIL, is expected to arrive here to-day, at 3 p.m.

The Arcadia, with the Esaztan MATL, left Singapore on Sunday, the 27th fast, and is due to arrive Lore on Friday, the 1st January,
