POST OFFICE NOTICE.
SHIPS LETTER BOXES.
THE HONGKONG DAILY PRESS, THURSDAY, DECEMBER 1778, 1914
1.- It is hereby notified that during the continuance of the War all outgoing correspondence
must be posted at the General Port Office or at any of its Branch Offices. 2-Skips Officers are strictly forbidden to receive on board their vessels any correspondence
from the l'ablic.
3-Slipzestene sre net allowed to place or expose on board their vessels latter boxes for the purpose of collecting correspondence; all such boxes found expored on board their Tassels will be removed and returned to the General Post Office,
5.-Chipting Companies must notoire from the Iublic for inclusion in their ships Tapere any but tone fide Consignees' Tetters which should be left open for inspection whee required
-Shipping Coupenies should state in their notifications to the Post Ofles the exact bour of departure of their vesels is exder that the public may have every facility for posting at the General Port Umeo.
5.-Shipping Companies and Ships Overs must send to the Post Office ALL correspončenos excert de Consignees letters posted in the Ships Letter Boxes or roesired by Ship Ofera at the porr fiem which they sailed, or anywhere on route to Hongkong 7-The state regulations will not afect the licensed Private Latter Boxes carried between Blogkong and Centou by the vessels belonging to or managed by the Hongkong, Ganton and Macao Stormboat Co.
War risks are not covered by Postal Registration or Insurance. Correspondence (including parcels) is being despatched as opportunity offers; but all Services are irregular and uncertain and all correspondence is liable to delay.
The Parcel Post Service to France is suspended until further notice.
The Parcel Post and Insured' Letter system to Brazil is suspended. "Notice given that althougli every possible precaution is taken to secure the safety of all postal packets whilst in the custody of the Post Office the Postmaster-General cannot give compensation for any loss or fan age which may be due to the act of the King's enemies. Until further retice no Letters, Boxes, Parcels for Belgium, Brazil Crete or Montenegro and no Letters, Boxes or Parcels for Malta can be accepted for insurance.
The Farcel Fost Service to the United Kingdom is in full working order in both directions by the long sea route.
The Parcel Post Service to Egpyt and certain countries men- tioned served by Egypt is resumed for ordinary parcels only:
Creta, Cyprus, Greece, Italy, Algeria, Tunis, Switzerland and (Libya) Tripoli
The Services to Germany, Austria, and their Colonies, and to the Ottoman Empire are suspended.
Unregistered Letters and Post Cards may now be sent to Tsingtau.
The Hulla, with the MAIL FROM Losons (ris Eiberia), of Sacday, the 16th ult, is due to arrive here to-morrow.
The Nankin, with the Exouisa MAIL, left Singapore on Sunday, the 13th inst, and is das to arrive here on Saturday, the 19th in, at 8 ..
The Shidroku Maru, with the AMERICAN MAIL, ex Siberia, is due to arriva bera on Sanday, the 20th Last.
