GERMAN SPIES IN ENGLAND.

ORGANISATION STAMPED OUT."

LONDON, October 8th, The Home Office has issued a statement describing how the German spy organisa tion in England has been completely suppressed. For three years past the ramifications of the German secret service in England have been known and the agents shadowed, though an action was taken which might reveal to them that their identity was known. Arrests were only made when important documents wore actually going to Germany. In such cases sufficient evidence was usually found in possession of the prisoner and thus, despite lavish expenditure, little valuable information was obtained. However, on August 4th, before the declaration of war, twenty knowu spics and two hundred suspects were arrested. Espionage is now tryable by court-martial and punishable by peual tervitude for life. One person is now awaiting court-martial, but this is the only case, and there is reason to believe that the spy organisation was crushed at the outbreak of war and has not been re-established. The sixtement mentions that the German army order of Anguist sist showed that the Germans were in gorane of the despatch of the Bitish force.
