THE DESTRUCTION OF TERMONDE.

An Antwerp telegram reports that the Germans on the 17th inst completed the destruction of Termonde by a third bombardment.
The Church is still standing, though the tower is damaged. The Hospital was partially spared, but all other buildings are in ruins.
MR. ASQUITH ON GERMANY'S GROSS AND FANTASTIC
MISCALCULATION.

Mr. Asquith, addressing a great meeting at Edinburgh, at which many notables, including Lord Rosebery, were present, declared that the war was the deliberato act of Germany, due to a gross and fantastic miscalculation by the Kaiser's advisers of the true spirit of Great Britain, India and the Colonics.
Proceeding, the Prime Minister said: Louvain. Malines and Termonde will henceforward be names braided on the brow of German culture. The full accomplishment of our task will certainly take months, possibly years, but nothing short of its fall accomplishment is worthy of nur traditions or will satisfy our rescive.”

Mr. Lloyd George, addressing a meeting of Welslimen in Queen's. Hall, London, in connection with the recruiting movement, all parties being represented on the platform, emphasised that we could not have refrained from war without national dishonour. He dezounced German treaty-breaking and declared that Germany must be taught to respect treaties in future. Germany's barbarian must be stamped ont.

The Official Press Bureau announces that H.R.H. the Prince of Wales approached Lord Kitchener saying that ho urgently desired to proceed to the front.
