A KIDNAPPING CHARGE. Chan 8an was charged on ten counts with kidnapping three children, two girls agod ten and two years respectively, and a boy aged five, also with administering a narcotic to two of the children for the purpose of kidnapping them, to which charges she pleaded not guilty.

The following jury was empanelled :- Messrs.-R. Galluzzi, J. Fisher, F. X. dos P. Fereira, E. Antonio, J. A. H. Graca, F. Hoggard, and C. M. Berradios.

The Acting Attorney-General (Mr. J. H. Kemp) prosecuted, and briefly outlined the facts. The children left their home on the 19th ult. with the intention of visiting their god-parents. It was not known whether they reached this house, but they were subsequently scon walking about with tho necused by the mother of the children, who noticed that one of thems was semi-conscious and did not know her. The aceised, evidently afraid, said she had given them some food, that this may have contained a drug, and that her intention was to take the children to a theatre. The mother hocante suspicious, whereupon the accused urged her not to call the police, and that she would go to a chemist's and get something to revive the child. The mother then accused prisoner Eventually the two children who were of waiting to kidnap the children.
