A NINE YEAR OLD MURDER:
THE HONGKONG DAILY PRESS, TUESDAY, MARCH 24TH, 1914.
Chu Loi, alias Chu Teoi, was charged with the murder of Sing Wing at Wong Nai U on 14th March, 1905. – The man |pleaded not guilty,
The Crown Solicitor (Mr. J. H. Koop) prosecuted on behalf of the Crown, and Mr. G. C. Alabaster (instructed by Mr. Orowther Boith) was for the défonce.
The following jury was empanelled:- Messrs. G. A. Diss, A. J. Haesan, A. J. C. da Silva, J. F. Millar, A. W. Heron, G. A. Miller, and J. M. P. Tavares.
The Crown Solicitor seid that was a case which had one unusual feature, and that was the lapse of time since the murder was alleged to have taken place. The jury would find that the withesses would refer to the murdered inan as Sing Ying instead of Sing Wing, bat it would be explained to them in evidence that Ting was a local dialectical pronuncia tion of Wing, the correct name. The murder was alleged to have taken place. at the village of Wong Nai U. Doceased and an employo were returning early in the morning from Kowloon when they kicked into something which squealed and turned out to be a pig. Subsequently they found prisoner and other men with a pig. Prisoner was supposed to have said something to the effect that the pigs were not theirs, and that he was only pasing through. Tho deconsed then said,. "Even then, lot ine, have a look at it,” he wanted to make sure that what the prisoner said was correct. Then, without

The prisoner was arrested on February 3rd and when charged then he said, "I do not know anything about the killing of Sing Wing. Nobody saw me kill him."
