IMPORTED PRODUCT OF BRANGHH HENS ALMEMS CALIFORNIA PRODUCERS.

Aboard the steamship Siberia, just arrived from the Orient, says a recent San Francisco paper, were 600 cases of Chinese eggs, the product of under-paid Shanghai bous, These eggs were admitted duty-free under the Wilson tariff act and were thrown on to the local narkot as bidders against. California and Eastern

eggs.

It is said that about 4.000 cases of Chinese eggs have been shipped into Sau Francis during the year under the handicap of a five-cent tariff; and it is predicted by local egg merchant that tho importation of Chinese eggs will total at feast 20.000 cases during the casing year

Petaluma's famous white leghorns and their owners are complaining against this latest free trade invader. The say that the fres admission of the cheap Chinese egg into this country will injuriously affect the egg industry of Calibrnia and of the Eastern egg-producing States. It is possible, under the no-duty provision of the Wilson tariff act, to import Chinese eggs into San Francisco at an outside cost of less than 20 cents per dosen. California producers say that this price will be destructive of their business is to the California egg of the same grade and class as the imported Chinese
