TWO GERMAN BESIDENTS KILLED.
TSINGTAO, January 24th.
Take the turn
A fatal automobile accident occurred: at Syfang, a suburb of Tsingtao on Wednesday evening, the ad instant. Three men with a Chinese chauffeur were returning from a ride in the country, and as they were passing near a restaurant in Syfang, suddenly decided to turn in. Ono called to the driver, and he being unfortunately a man of insufficient ex- periance, attempted to when it was altogether too lite, consider- ing the speed and the shortness of the turn. The result was that the car plung- ed off the road and capsided over an embankment. One man, Mr. Valder, of Carlowitz & Co., sprang clear of the car and escaped with a broken arm, and some injury to his side. The two other men, Mr. Harr's and Mr. Kurschat, were caught under the overturned car and instantly killed...
So far as one can see there is no special blame to attach to anyone. It is just one of those inevitable sacrifices which are periodically made to speed and pleasure. It is altogether probable that a man of longer experience would not have at- tempted the turn on so short notice, as such matters are not so much a question,
