THE CASE OF A COUNTESS,

The Conatoss Ravizinai Erminis efl, of Milsa, is an outspoken lady endowed with a koen sense of duty to her follow on and Honce it is that lately she authorised the pablication of the following from her pou in the Socalo" of Milan and other leading newspapers of Italy.

THE ANNUAL REPORT.

THE BONGKONG DAILY PRESS, SATURDAY, JANUARY 17TH, 1814.

The report of the Peking Syndicate for the year ended June 30th states that the important changes which have occurred in China have continued to react upon not the Republic and the Presidenos commercial enterprises. The establish of H.E. Yuan Shih-kai have at length. been accepted, but not in time to ensure any marked result before closing the accounts under review. The receipts during the year amounted to £51.309; comprising interest on the Houan Rail way bonds, dividends on shares in other companies. sundry investments and profit on exchange. The expenditure during the saine period in London was £16,350; in Paris, £2,750; and in China, £14,619. French fiscal dues in respect of Shansi shares amounted to £997. The balance t carried to profit and loss account is £17.91 This amount, together with the amount standing at the credit of profit and loss account from last year's account, ; brings the total net eredit balance up t £408,268. The directors propose that chic! amount should be carried forward. Con- sidering the troublous times through which China has been passing during the period under review, the directors con- sider that good progress has been made by the company in developing its nues ju Honan; especially if it be remembered that, as slureholders were informed by circulae in July Inst, operations were greatly retarded and production reduced

ing to a heavy inrush of water in the workings at Nos-4 and 5 pits, whilst

from sovere pains in the waist; continual head-later there was also an inrush of water aches, attacks of dizziness, wed daily fainting £ts.

Digestion became very dificult and painful although I ate mort to nothing. My life was a misery, and I feared that it could not last much longer as all the prescribed medicines which I took with the strictest regularity failed to do

me any good."

Finally I tried the officacy of Dr. Williams Pink Pills, of which I heard so many good reports. They gave me the best possible results, for following on their use I have regained my strength, eat with relish, and my digestion is perfect. These Pills have given me aew life."

To build up the nervous system it is necessary and to frst build up the blood; for the blood

erros no tonic exists with a record equal to that of Dr. Williams' pink pills for pile people. Those Pills ato a proved remedy for Anemia, Neurasthenia. Elsunatism, disorders of the digestion, skin complaints, and also (especially) for the ailments of ladies. Of medicine vendors overywhere, and the Dr. Williams Medicine Co., 84, Szechuan Road, Shanghai, one bottle for $1.50, six bottles for $8. post fres.

There is an increase in the value of the properties in China, especially of those in Hankow and Pukow As regards the former, the proximity of the Peking-Hankow line, with its rapidly-increasing traffic, and the contemplated construction of a bridge between Hankow and Wachang, has naturally enhanced the value of the com- pany's land, an increase of value which the directors anticipate has by no means reached its limit.
