PEKING, January 11th Rumours continue to issue from the Poking Cabinet to the effect that the Polition Committee is proposing to bring to nought Hsiung Hsi Ling's projects, whereby it could in turn bring about the fall of Hsiung.
The Political Committee is impatient for the selection of a sub-committee, to be composed of adherents of the Govern ment only, and charged with drafting Constitution. The Committee also recommends the dissolution of Parlia ment, the members of which shall receive the balance of salary due them, and then he sent home.

A TRAGEDY IN SHANGHAI,
AMERICAN PRISONER SHOT.
An American named George W. Robin- son was shot by a gaolor of the American Consular Gaol in Shanghai last week when attempting to escape from custody. The deceased had already served a term of imprisonment in Shanghai, and had just beon arrested upon two charges, and was almost within the U.S. Consul gaol when he made an attempt to escape. Warned by his pursuer that unless he gave him- self up he would be shot, he paid no heed to the warning and finally fell Mr. J. W. Franks to be Assistant wounded on the road. At first it was Superintendent, Prison Depart-thought that his injuries were not excep. tionally serious, but about two hours after receiving the revolver wound he died in the General Hospital.
