At the Magistracy. yesterday, before Mr. P. A. Hazeland, the managing partner in the Kwong Fut riec shop, named Tan Lin To, and a foki in his employ were charged with being in unlawful possessión of 43 tacks of prepared copium, une mace of opium drošs, and

Mr. Hoggarth, referring to Mr. Lewis' comments on the excise officers, said that the police were the independent witnesses in this ens, as in all opium cases. The excise officers were merely called to oblige Mr. Lewis

In answer to his Worship, the defendant admitted that in the first case he gave a different name from that in the present case, but both were his names.
