ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL.

REVIEW OF THE HALF-SEASON.

1813 is finished and its acts are unalterable! Points gained cannot be taken away and points lost cannot be regained. The League system makes the match that was played laet October just as important when cup and shield winning is concerned as the final game of tho whole competition, and it ensures a sustaining of strength for months en end that precludes the possibility of other than a superior team emerging finally on top. When, on October 11th, the D.C.L.I. lout by one solitary goal to the R.A., it hardly seemed feasible that this. one slip should cost them the chastpion ship. Yet it is easily possible, pot to say probable. As the table published below shows the three Army clubs are equal in points at the top-goal average Alone giving the R.G.A. and R.E. pride. of place in the US. competition. With four clubs entering six inetches each have. to be negotiated, and each has to-day conchided one half of its fixtures, quite a coincidence, in fact. Look at what has happened! R.A. beat D.C.L.I and Faguer, R.E. beat R.A. and Tamar, and D.C.LI beat R.E. and Tamar. There is a delightful mixing-up of form here. There is not a cent's worth of difference- between the three; as for the Tamar, they have recently shown that they can easily upset all form by beating the Club- which recently drew with the R.E, and so, there you are-where are you?.

There is no sport or excitement in a league of four "so I hear moaners say. That may be more correct at Home, where each town has maybe its score: or so of senior clubs, but here it is different because it has to be different-to match! everything else. One thing I will guarantee: Each of the six U.S. League matches that has still to be played will attract a big crowd and each match will be fought to a finish, Tamer or no l'amar. The League management can be expected to insist that clubs shall only be called upen to play when their full strength is available, which means when Camp is finished, and with this assurance, I

This is

a crying evil, and I hope to see our new Association take the business in hand before next season comes upon us, with a view to its removal. Granted it may not be the pidgin of the HKPA.. but such a go-ahead body ought to feel itself constrained to go out of its way to do good. Besides, it will be helping the boys, and what better motives could exist than to cater for those to whom wo shall look for our entertainment in future seasons.

The 08th Cuy, have beaten Moslems and University and Moslems have beaten B.O.C. (twice) and University, and that's all that has been done. Can anyone wonder if 3.0.0, and 'Varsity get what our Service friends call “Fed up" when one reflects on what the season has been to them so far

Comment on the largest league, haa been deferred to the last, and any such comment must be commendatory. Teams are numerous, grounds are scare, and Service duties are peremptory "and intermittent, and yet the halfway mark has been all but reached. One wonders what a competition of this calibre would become if the management were carelea and slack. Sergeant Wilson's task is no small one, and the committee must atand by his proposals, the ends justifying the means. The Police did not lose a match between October 2nd and the Wednesday

"A Martyr to Indigestion."

Pains Across Chest Sleeplessness, Sickness and Acidity

REMOVED BY

MOTHER SEIGEL'S SYRUP.

Mt. T. Walker, of 103, Geoffrey Street, Preston, Lancs. writes on December 6th, 1912: "It gives me much pleature to inform you of the wondciful cure your Mother Seigel's Syrup bus effected in my case. Some time ago I was a martyr to Indigestion one of that numerous band who have to carefully consider beforehand every thing they eat, and then all too frequently fail to escape the pains and penalties of Indigestion, Despite my utmost precaution, I used often to suffer the most dreadful pain across my chest and between my shoulders.

"Sleeplessness, too, was another of my symptoms, fol lowed by sickness on rising in the morning, the vanit usually consisting of a hot, bitter fluid. I tried many medicines, but my first relief was brought about by Mother Seigela Syrup. It took no more than three small bottles of that wonderful remedy to cure me entirely. have sometimes taken Mother Seigel's Syrup since, but not for Indigestion for it is, besides what is daimed for it, a wonderful all-round health-giver."

For over 40 years Mother Setgel's Syrup has been removing and preventing Indigestion. There is no beller remedy for the common ailments of the stomach, liver and howels. Carefully nate what Mr. Walher seys, and don't be put off with substitutes.
