As a result of a ballot of the members of the Amalgamated Society of Engineers on the entire reef, a vast majority is found to be in favour of accepting the

STRIKE SETTLED.
A conference between Sir Louis Botha and General Smuts and the mine owners was followed by another between the Premier, General Smuts and the strike leaders, which resulted in the settlement of the strike.
The men resume work forthwith. The strikers will be re-instated and the strike breakers compensated, and will not be victimised. The Government is to enquire into the other grievances.
FUNERAL OF WOTERS.
The funeral of the dead rioters-com- prised a procession of 12,000 people representing different trades.
The route was thronged, but the crowd was orderly and reverent.
The Bishop of Pretoria, who officiated as spokesman of the Trades Federations, appealed to the people to disperse quietly. Socialists outside the cemetery sang "The Red Flag."
