A curious case, arising out of the recent illness of Mr. A. Maclennan's son and the cause of it, was opened before the Chief. Justice (Bir W. H. Hyndman Jones) in the Supreme Court, at Singapore, last week. Mr. Maclennan sues, on behalf of his son, F. Lasalle, bootanker, Orchard Rond, for the sura of $2,149 made up of of Mrs. Maclennan nodical fees (9500), medicines (813), the and her son to damages (81,000), the allegation being that the child's dangerous illness was to poisoning caused by inhaling the fuines of nitro benzino which had beon unskilfully and negligently applied by defendant and his servants to a pair of nt children's fancy dress ball on jockey boots worn by Master Madonnan December 7 last. Defendant denies that question, and he counter-claims for $15 the child's illness was due to the boots in for two pair of shoes and the said boots supplied to plaintiff. In his reply to the counter-claim, plaintiff admits owing 89 in respect of the two pairs of shoes, but denies liability for the jockey boota, owing to their faulty treatment and the conse
