À correspondent who is in the insurance' business (Hays a writer in the Glasgow. News) tells me that occasionally there are instances of clients refunding money as a matter of conscienco.
He mentions the case of a cortain good lady who some time ago sent back to his company' a sum of money, stating that bor conseienes would givo her no reat until this was done. It seems that some years ago this lady had claimed on the company for loss owing to cinders falling from the grate and burning holes in the boarthrug. In returning the money, the Indy ox- plained that on that occasion: something had seemed to tell her to go into that particular room at that particular time, but gho had deliborately resisted the impulso. ON! MY DEAR SIR!
Mr. J. Forbes Robertson, at the 'O.P. Club dinner last month, told a good story concerning the polito rejection of sub- mitted plays. In a dilema, he appealed to John Clayton, who gave him an example of how he had done it. He replied
thus:-
My Dear Sir, I have read your play,' Oh my dear air Yours truly,
Mr. Forbes Robertson added that he had often told that story. Once he told it to a man who did not laugh. He was the man who had received the original letter.

SILENT LAWYER.
Oddly enough for a lawyer, Sir. W. Grant, Master of the Rolls was a very silent man and he was the most patient of judges. The story is well-known (save "Anecdotes of Bench and Bar") of his hearing an elaborate and lengthened argument, for two days, on the meaning of an Act of Parliament, and when the counsel finished simply saying: "Gentlo- men, the Act on which the pleading has been founded is repealed."
On one of bis visits to Banff he rode out a few miles into the country, secampanied by some friends. The only observation that escaped from him was in passing a field of peas. "Very fine peas,"
Next day he rode out with the same friends, and was equally silent, but on passing the same spot he muttored:"And very finely podded, too."

TO BE SEEN IN SURREY IN THE FLESH.
Direct survivals of the ancient Britons can be seen within forty miles of London Mudie, of Dunsfold, Surrey. In a lecture any Saturday night, according to Miss at Godalming to members of the Con. regational Church Young People's Institute, she said that ancient Britons were themselves a composite race, mada up of an aboriginal stock of short, dar people with long heads, and immigrants of various Celtic races, taller in stature fairer in complexion, and with round skulls.
"All over Britain," said Miss Mudie, "we find traces of these early races in their tombs or barrows, but down in the World south of Dunsfold we find survi- vals of these primitive men not in barrows round or long, but at the black smith's forge or by the fire of the wood-

Sore Throat
How they Care and Prevent it..
Everyone who suffers from Sore Throat should test the wonderful remedy and preventive which is used by the Right Hon. Arthur J. Balfour (1), Sir Oilbert Parker (2), and other famous M.P.'s, a well as by great Ingyers like Lord Justice Buckley, celciarated singers like Medame Adelina Patti (7), and lead-- org actors like Mr. H. Who could ask for more convincing and trustworthy witnesses? They are, daore. "over," particularly prone to catch Sore Throat because they are often in hot crowded places where the germs which cause Sore Throat abound.
Wulfing's Forumint the remedy which they and hundreds of their col leagues all rely upon-kills these germs in the mouth and throat. That is why it is. prescribed by over 7,000 medical men for curing and preventing Sore Throat.
