Four months have passed since any public announcement was made regarding. what is being done to provide the Colony with wireless telegraph communication. H.E. THE GOVERNOR then informed the Legislative Council that the Secretary of State proposed that the Crown Agents for the Colonies should call for tenders forth with for the erection of a five kilowatt station in Hongkong, which apparently will havo a range of about Güt wiles. Nothing more has since been heard of the matter, and we do not know whether the Crown Agents are calling for tenders, or even whether instructions to do so have yet been com- musicated to them by the Colonial Office. We are reminded of this question by noticing in a Straits contemporary some remarks extracted from the Report of the Penang Chamber of Commerce regarding tho nege tiations with the Strails Government for the provision of a wireless installation at Fering; and as in Hongkong from time to tims sundry references have been made to.
