Inquiries with regard to the most suit- able types of buoyant deck seats are now being made by the Boats and Davita Com- mittee. Surveyors should therefore report to the Board particulars of any types of single buoyant deck souts that may be submitted before approving them. This report should state the angle to which the buoyant apparatus heels when floating INTERNATIONAL BANKING with (n) 16, (b) 64lb., suspended on one side of the apparatus from a life-line attached to the part above water.
Capt, C, H. Stigand, the well-known big game sportsman and author of several books on African sport, travel and natural history, has recovered his health after what must have been a very narrow escape from death, this time in an adventure with an elephant. Capt. Stigand, who holds an official position in the Lado Enclave, on the upper watera of the White Nile, was not, as a matter of fact, shoot ing at the time the accident happened.
Hearing a report of an elephant which had been troubling the natives, he went to investigate matters. The elephant at once went for him, knocked him down, and drove one of its tusks through the fleshy part of the thigh, inflicting a very Capt.
