GETTING THE CURRENCY TOTÁL, Consequently, most of the currency was boing counteil in the cash room, where brought from the vaults by regular vault attendant, the number of the pack ages and the amount they should contain beltig registered first. ·· They were then placed before a counter, who wounted them, sealed the packages with 81,000, or 8100, depending on the denomination of the bills to a package marked thein counted-and the date, and they were stacked in a new place in the fault

The count was finished in record time, because of the fact that Mr. Thompson had expressed his unwillingness to accept the count on sealed packages that had not been broken since Mr. McClung came into office. This applied only to the coin. Consequently much of the cash or coins was counted by weighing The money was counted when Mr McClang succeeded Mr. Charles H. Trent, and all the coisis were sealed in bags, containing $1000 each. All of these bags that had not since been opened were weighed on a delicate adjusted scale. If the weight was right for $1,000, it was passed for $1,000 with out a piece-by-piece count.

A piece-by-piece count was, however, made on all bage that were off a fraction weight, or that hal been broken or used in the past two years, and on all new coin that had come in. Most of the coin was stacked 40 feet high in bage in the big vaults in 16 different compartments, with $10,000,000 to the compartment. The counting was done in the vault.
