CHILDREN'S SPORTS AT KOWLOON.

The eighth annual children's sports promoted by the Kowloon Cricket Club | took place on New Year's Day, at King's Park, and proved an even greater success than on former occasions. The weather was bright and genial, and this brought out the young people in their hundreds. The adults were there, too, in large num bers, and they must have enjoyed them. selves seeing the children having such a happy time. The Kowloon Cricket Club, though having to call for public subscrip tions for the sports, continued to conduct them as before, and their officials, with several outside gentlemen invited to assist, made themselves responsible for the arrangements. They unselfishly gave up the day to the entertainment of the young folks, and they must have felt amply rewarded for their labours by the sight of so many smiling children. There was tea and other delicacies for them, and no one whs sent away dissatisfied, and apart from the prizes at the sports, there were toys for all. A bran tub and other side shows contributed to their pleasure.

The sports, which were well managed, proved most interesting. The most strenuous competitions were the girle skipping contests and the boys' tug of war. A noteworthy addition to the pro-
