THE DIAJUSE OF TO-MORROW. The tailored blouse, with Robespierre collar of its own material, has taken a very smart and pretty form this BORBON. Fashioned in soft silk, the turned-down collar, which although it rises fairly high at the back, is cut low in front, looks eminently comfortable, and oreo without a jabot of filmy lace, or not fall- ing from it, is extremely becoming to the When no cravat average young woman. or inbot is worn a flat silk bow takes its place. The blouses, are sometimes cut in one-piece, in which case the fairly tight sleeves, which must needs be no more than elbow length in view of the width of the silk of which the blouse is made, pre sup- plemented by cuffs of the same silk ex- tending to the wrist, ornamented with silk buttons or braid. These cuffs it as loosely the upper sleeve, and look much like a continuation of it until one observes the horizontal seam at the elbow. But some of the bloases have the whole sleeve cut separately in the old-fashioned way, in which case thero an utter ab- sence of fullness on the shoulder, the result being a flatness as unbroken as in the case of the kimono blouse. A line of butions, clothed in silk, is the favourite adornment for the front of the blou8e8.
GOLD THREAD AND ITS WOES.
Fine gold thread embroiders many a white silk or satin gown. One lovely example is veiled with ninon so em- bellished, and the same embroidery ap- pears for some inches at the foot of the two wide flat sash-ends of silk arranged at the back. One of these falla in- dependently of the gown, but the other is cleverly formed into the skirt. The gold embroidery also brightens the bodice, at the left side of which is a large bow of silk ribbon.
THE EVENING GOWN DE LUXE.
A very graceful evening kown is in old-fashioned faille of a pale blue tint. The fullness of the skirt, cut in one piece, is drawn up at the right side to form a ju panier, while the material falls

From the draperies at the back a scarf of laco of a deep coffee colour, edged with dia- manté, is arranged in & loop which droops to the foot of the dress. _THE_USE_OK. BROCADE
Soft brocades are still being used very. effectively as coats and skirts. Many of them are chosen from among the ranks of soft domestic brocades originally intended for upholstery, or for panelling walls. They are, of
all in one colour, the course difference between the background and the brocaded patterns affording quite enough relief. A very smart example is in stone- coloured brocade with a pattern of roses, woll intertwined. The skirt is drawn up in fullness on the left side, where a line. of skunk starts, which sweeps round to form a hem. The coat has a collar and euffe of skunk, and is faced in the inner side with dull blue embroidery, which matches the dall blue of the chiffon blouse and the doll blue velvet of the hat border-

BROCADED EVENING CLOAKS.
A popular material for evening cloaks this season is brocaded velvet, sometimes closely resembling in appearance and design the stamped velvet so widely used some years ago for upholstering furni inre. The colour of these cloaks are often very brilliant, cobalt blue, for ex ample, trimmed with white fox; rose- pink, trimmed with white panne and dark skunk; or bright mustard-yellow. A coat in material of the last-named hue has a collar which at the back is so deep that it falls below the waist, where a strap holds it in place.
