SIMULTANEOUS WIRELESS TRANSMISSION.
In the newly-patented Marconi method for simultaneously-conding and receiving wireless messages at the samo station, the transmitting and receiving apparatus of the station are a short distanco apart instead of close together, and the ro ceiving instruments are connected not only to receiving aerial but to "balancing" aerial The transmitting aerial points away from the distant
The so-called balancing aerial points away from the transmitter, thus being made to respond readily to the transmitter oscillations and only slightly to the oscillatione from the distant. station. An induction coil in the balancing asrial acts as a second primary to the receiving transformer, and the Oscillations set up in this aerial by the radiation from the transmitting aerial produce in the secondary of the coil an effect that is just equal and opposite to the effect produced by the oscillations set! up in the receiving aeriul.
A NEW GERMAN MUSEUM IDEA. Museums will soon be as common as libraries, and probably more specialized. A new project for Koblens is & Rhine Museum, designed to give a complete representation of the geology, present condition and
economic history of Europe's most important river. The ex hibits will be largely in the form of models, pictures, charts and diagrams, The models will include a fino geological! series, others will show the bridges and i varying types of vessels from the earliest times, and the navigation development will be fully illustrated.
X-RAY TESTING OF EGGS,
The method of examining eggs by X-rays is al by a French account to have given good results in England and Denmark. The X-ray tubo is in a closed lantern with a small opening, before which rach egg is held in turn, and small spots in the shadow thrown on a screen indicate the defective egg.
