same...

In moving the resolution the Chairnyan said that, owing to illness, Sir John Ure Primrose was unable to attend the meeting. The directors desired to give the shareholders every opportunity of considering pro- posals before carrying them into effect. The report of the proceedings of the last mecting clicited a few objections; but prozies received in favour of the proposals were overwhelmingly greater; so that; there was nothing left for him to do but to pro- pose the resolution. He would just repeat that the directors were confident that the proposal was in the best interests of the company, and that the ultimate resalt would be greatly to the benefit of the share- holders.

Mr. Buchanan said that, while it was no good discussing the matter, in view of the prokies held by, the board, the circular did not clear up many points. At the previous meeting Mr. Hankey had said the rent was a hominal one of one dollar per acre for the first six years, and four dollars there- after. The company would have to pay in the course of five years" a rental of £460 yearly. That capitalised at the credit of the Shelford Conipany on the basis of 25 years purchase, and the value of Sheliard shares meant that the cast was £1 Bonin Is. Inbi'jima Chefoo

Mr. MacDonald (secretary); You take the rental at £460, muldply that by twenty- five, you take the cost of the estive in | £3,000, and add to that thất £11,500.

"Mr. Buchanan; I presume the shares will be issued at £i premium. 4 would also point out the fait in the value of Shelford shares from jos. to jos.

The Chairman: "I don't think it is fate inference.

Mr. Buchanan, also referred to the rental and gave ågures to show that the sum paid would be out of all proportion to that of the value of the Kong Lée property.

Mr. MacDonald replied that the only way Hollow to look at the price being paid for the pro

Mr. Buchanan: That is all the more not have reason why the scheme should been proposed..

Mr. Lilburn: Why increase the estate at all? I would have agreed with the pro- posal if the property had been near Shel- ford, and so avoided duplication expenses.
