DEATH OF SIR HÖRMUSJKE MODY,

OVER HALE A CENTURY IN HONGKONG,

The death of Sir Harmujes Mody, which oc curred yesterday morning, makes the community of Hongkong conscious of a sense of josa, which cannot adeqant-lý be exproved in words. The pistare que personality so long a festure of our Colonial life has been removed, and the place which koow him so long now knows him no acre. He has gone to his rest fall of years and honores, and the Colony mourns the demise of her oldest citizen and her greatest plálan thropist.

Though the Colony was not unprepared for the news of his death-it having heen-apparent o most that Sir Harmarjee's health was failing still the announcement came as a shook to his many friends, and indeed to the community generally, and regret was muni fos'ed on all sides. The Parsee community practically surponded business, and fax other business hours the effout of the announcement was noticeable in several
