were shot, und the revolver was afterwards wrested away from the mata. Tho Chinese, it appears, had given troubləand showa signs of disaffection over since the ocllision.

Archibald Douglas, chief mats of the Green- ook steamer Bannockburn, was charged at Tover with shooting two Chinos seamon.

Captain Dent, of the Bannockburn, gare details of the affair and of the rautiny which occurred among the Chinese crew whilst the Tessol was beached ab Dover, after a collision. He said that he was called to the foredeck, and thero found a Chinese seaman wounded and Tying on the denk and the Chinese boatswain with a wounded finger. The first mate was surrounded by all the Chinamon, 32 in number, who were armed with erowbars and ether weapons, and were struggling to get the re- volver from him. The Chisamen succeeded and thoa qulated. Mr. Douglas told him that he had ordered the Chinese to got additions hose. pipe connections for thosalvage pumps, and that they had rafused and set upon him, and tho revolver went off in the safe. Captain Dent said that the Chinean eror had been with him. 16 months. They were as good arow, and be could not have wished for a better on the night of the collision. Douglas had been with him! nine months, and the Chipamen seemed to have ! taken a great dislike to him. But he had never known Douglas to ill-treat the Chinamon; in i fact, he thought he was too kind to them.

The car was adjourned and bail was allowed,
