AFRAID TO GO OUT AT NIGHT. So Bad ws HIS ASTHMA,

AFTER PHYSICIANS, MEDICINES AND CHANGE OF CIAMATE FAILED TO CUBE TEIS COLOMBO GENTLEMAN HE FOUND

PERFECT CORK IN

- DR. WILLIAMS' PINK PILLS.

Asthma is a norvous disease, and in the majority of cases is connected with some other malady, chronic Bronchitis, Dyspepsia, Liver Disorder and Indigestion being among the most frequent. In the case of air V O. van Bauzow, of 5 Look Gate, Colombo, Dyspepsia was the predisposing cause, and considering that the reputation of Dr. Williams Pink Tails a8a remedy for digestive disorders is of twenty years' duration, and world-wide, it is not to be wondered at that, whilst curing Mr. van Razzo of Asthma as he relates, they cured him com- plotely of his Dyspepsia as well

"I was a constant sufferer from Asthma for nearly two years," said Mr. van Ranzow. It wes with the atmost difficulty that I managed to breath at times. My bronchial tubes seemed chokod. Se susceptable was I to cold that I could not go out after dark, as the night air, was too damp and chilly. In addition to the Asthma I muffered greatly with Dyspepsin, and had no appetito at all. I was extremely nervous.

MR. V. O. VAN RANZOW;

of Colombo.

(From a Photograph) With these various troubles there was rery little comfort for me during the day. But at night my sufferings increased tonfeld, as when I was lying down my respiratory organs seemed to become filled with phlegm, and I would cough and epat for a long time, feeling ofton as though I were going to choke.

"On my medical attendant's advies I went away to Nowara Eliya for a month, but I was Just as bad thero as I had been in Colombo, Another physician then recommended a trip to Jaffun for change of climate, but after my pre- bious disappointment I saw no use in this. For six months I took port wine regularly every day on medical advice, yet all this time I grew worse, suffering much misery, and coughing and spitting nearly all day long.

After spending a lot of money vainly in my efforts to obtain relief 7 allowed, myself to be induced at last by friends to try Dr. Williams Pink Pills for Pala Peuple. The very first. botto of these Pills gave me such relief that I was encouraged to persevere, and after taking four more bottles of thera I was completely cared. I am now free from either Asthma or Dyspepsia, and have been so for over a year. Because of my thankfulness I give permission to publish this testimony for the information of others.

REVIEWS.

THE HONGKONG DAILY PRESS, SATURDAY, MARCH 11TH, 1911.

A Pricatose of Mumanity. By Mrs. STANLEY

WRENCH, London: John Long,

This is one of the few modern novela of power. It absorbs the reader from the very first page, and interest is sustained throughout by the natural situations, wall-drawn characters, and dramatic scenes so skilfully portrayed. The story centres round the lives of two people. One as ordinary clean living young man, who resones fallen woman, who prove that she only needed the opportunity thus given to rise to better things. They live together and the inevitable happens. The horo wishes to marry her, but discovers that she is already married, in fact it was the disgust created by her Busband that drove her on the streets. How ever, they bids their time and the husband by dying opens the way to a legal union. The story is characterised by forcé and Iterary merit, and ought cortaioly to add to the reputa- tion of the authoress,

A Great Corp. By NAT GOULD, London

John Long

The many who enjoy a good "racey" story will fad Not Gould's latest very readable. The author's direct simple style and his graphic description of exciting Fooes have a decided charm, and when to those are added a story of more than ordinary interest the popularity of "A Great Coup" is sute to prove unbounded. The heroine of the story achieves distinction by obtaining a liconon to ride as an amateur at a Northern race meeting, and not only frustrates there who buvo designs upon ker mount but rides him to victory, thus bringing off" Agrest coup.

The Other Wife. By OLIVIA BAMBEY. Lon

don: John Long.

Though a modern novel, it contains none of

the daring elements which present-day writers introduce so freely to what the jaded appetites of the reading pablic. It is clean and whole- some. The story is clever and original, and should meet with the success which previous efforts of this writer have secured. The heroine. is the daughter of a religious enthusiast whose prejudice makes her refuse the man she loves because he is a devout Roman Catholic, She gives herself to a man whom she believos has the approbation of her dead father, bat he provas to be exceedingly worldly. She struggles to keep herself unspotted from the world, but after four years of matrimony hor husband discovers that his first wife, whom he thought dead is alive. Pamela, that is the namo of the heroine, is turned adrift, but through devious ways her first lover, whe had in the in, torval married, is liappily enabled, to claim her and all ends well.
