In Germany, as elsewhere, there are supe patriots, who live in a state of perpetual anxiety as to the safety of their country, Their latest cause for alarm is the monnee to the German. script. It is, in fact, evident that the Gothie script is going the same way as the Gothic print. It Is pretended by the superpatriots that the in- creasing use of Intin type, especially in works of a learned character, is a delicato compliment to the foreigner or a gracious concession to his ignorance. This however, hardly seems to explain why the same lettering is employed in practically all the typewriters used in this country, for all shops signs, and for all comp mercial news and displayed advertisements in the Prass, oven in the papers which exist for the 'dissemination of superpatriotisms. The fact is that the superiority of the Latin typo-writer. script is admitted implicitly oven by those who most loudly extol the Gothic, and its ultimate triumph is only a question of time.

POISON BY MICROBES.

Count O'Brien de Lassy, who is alleged to have paid Dr. Panchenko for the administra tion of the microbes.

To stated that Count O'Brien is a cousin of Countess Tarnowska, while Dr. Panchenko is a relative of the ex-Promier, Count Witte,

Panchenko affirmed (states Router) that O'Brien paid him to go to Cronstadt to obtain cholora endotoxin. Panchenko said he gaye tubes of this endotoxin to O'Brien.. It would seem that cholera poisoning was consid ored too risky, for subsequently Panchenko visited Professor Zarolotny, and under the pro- tence of carrying on bacteriological experiments naked for some diphtheritic toxin. Professor Zarolotny, after giving him a small quantity, recommended him to go to the Institute of Ex perimental Medicine, where a chemist guve Panohonko two tabes,.
