In 1911 it was proposed to undertake a pre- paratory school for Malaya at Kuala Kangsar, a new house for the Resident-Ceuoral ot Kuni Lumpur, hospital, at Ipoh, police barracks, a post office and public offices at Tapah, a post office at Kuala Kangsar, offices and quarters in new territory, extension of the river embankment and waterworks at Kuala Lumpur and reclamation of the Batu Road swampy

Trado had been good throughout the States. There

were considerable incomes in importa and experts. The cultivated rubber exported in the first six mouths of 1910 was five million pounds against ander two and a half million pounds last year.

The export of tin had declined in quantity but increased in value,

With regard to labour, statute immigrants and unindenturod coolin in 1909 were 25.700, but in eight mouths of this year they were 45,000. The inspased demand necessitated supplementing from other services. Chinese labour was being recruited vigorously, Legis- iation for the control of this labour was being placed before the Council.

Plasting laud alienated in 1909 was 140,000. acres this year applications for 300,000 Borex for rubber and 36,000 neres for secounts had been approved.

With regard to mining, he hopes the reduction of the tin duty and better prices would decrease working costs, and would induce profitable working. The geologist held ont hopos that in certain localities further deposits of ora might be found underlying this layers already mined-Straits Times.
