John Grant, formerly a surveyor. in the Public Works Department, appeared under remand before M. J. R. Wood at the Magistracy yesterday on a charge of obtaining by false pretences a sum of 821 from villagers at Kowloon City, Hunghom, and Samshuipo, Mr. J. H. Gardiner appeared for the defence.
