AFRICAN LION HUNT,
XE, ROONEYSLT'S DESCRIPTION OF AN EXCITING COMBAT.
Mr. Roosevelt, continuing his series of
articles on African game trails in the London Daily Telegraph, gives an interesting descrip tion of a lion hunt by Nandi warriors at Bergoi.
We started, he says, immediately after break fast, Kirke, Scally, Monton, Jordaan, Mr. and Mrs. Corbett, Captain Chapman, and our party were on horseback; of course, we carried ear rides, but our duty was merely to round up the lion and hold him, if he went off so far in advance that even the Nandi runners could not overtake him. We intended to beat the country towards some shallow, swampy valleys, twelve
miles distant.
In an hour we overtook the Nandi warriors,
who wore advancing across the rolling, prevr plains in a long line, with intervals of six or sight yards between the men. They were splendid savages, stark naked, lithe as panthers,
tho muscles rippling under their smoth, dark skins, all their lives they had lived ou nothing but animal food, milk, blood and flesh, and they were fit for any fatigue or danger. Their faces were proud, cruel, fearless; they ran they moved with long, springy strides.

Baye:-*
We have received from Lieutenant Allon Bator, Royal Artillery, on officer on the active list, perhaps the meatastonishing pamphlet over issued by a serving officer.
The pamphlot is headed, The Army System

The imprint bears this name of Andrew Dizon, Limited, printers, High Bridge, Newcastle-on- Tyne. On the covor is written the following
With the author's compliments. The facts disclosed in this pamphlot will mean the author's dismissal from the service as quietly as possible. It will not
mean a court-martial, as that would bring the facts out. Tust is the author's object. If the facts are untrao, imprisonment would be too good for Le. At present the Army Connoil are trying to think what to do. They are taking time to
to it. The pamphlet has been out for some days."
