MACAO, May lat. The deeth took place on Friday last of Mr. José da Silva, a very old and much respected resident of this city, at the ripe age of eighty-six years. He was & Tory prominent lawyer and at one time conducted the Fortuguese weekly O Independente in the Colony. He was also the proprietor of one of the largest stores in Macae. He is survived by four sons, three daughters, and one sistor. One of his surviving sons, Mr. Constancio J. da Silva, has a suoness- fal practice, and, following in the footsteps of Mr. da Silva, Sr., is editor of the Macao Truth- A Verdade. The funeral took place on Sunday,
