The golden jabiles of the Italian Convent In Hongkong was Attingly celebrated yesterday afternoon, when the past and present papils of the Convent Bohoo! combined to produce au. entertainment worthy of such an auspicions occasion. That they were successful the manifest appreciation of the large gathering in attendance was proof. The entertainment was held in a zantshed which had been erected on the compound of the building, and this was embellished with flags and fowers. A lang pro-ndlings-Mrs. Potter, Mra, Alabaster, Misses Edwards, Jacks, E. Potts, G. Three addresses were on the programme, one in English, one in Portuguese, and one in Chinese. In the course of the alter noon H. E. the Governor sprung another surprise upon those present.

The second fa another Leung, holding a position on the Board of Communications, who is accused of putting obstacles in the way of railway construction The last is Tai Hung Chi, the late Grand Councillor, who, It is said, did what he could to frustrate the creation of a National Assembly.

He has decided to found seven scholarships to grant schools in this Colony, and he has asked me to make the annoitacement this afternoon. The schools are St. Joseph's College, the Ellis Endoorie, the Diocesan Girls' School, the Italian Convent, Bt. Mary's, Kowloon, the French Convent and St. Francis, Wanchal.
