THE TURBAN TOQUE.

The farion toque is going to emy all before it this reason, with the exception of the con- siderable contingent that, having grown.zccus- tomed to see themselves in very large hats. canast exchange them for any other, The turban toque in mode in every possible sort of material-velvet, satin, soft silk, gauze, ninon, chiffon, silk masin, and various striped fabrics with an Oriental Havour about them. The form of these turbans grows more and more Eastern; that is to say, the felds are arranged to cover almost the whole of the hair, leaving but a little of it visible as a frame to the face. An old rose ganzo ono, for instance, swallows up savo or eight yards of double-width material and is porelied at an juclining the right, the right eye. Chiton velvet is preferred to velvet for the turban' on account of its sofiness, One of these, in a soft shade of grey.blar, las an immense old-gold rose as trimming, the flower being placed at the point where the folds cross over uncle other.

THE TURBAN AT THE PLAY. Some Parising fulles have been wearing (257 turbans in their boxes at the theatre in the evenings, and have dazzled beholders by the brilliancy of their coiffure. One of the tur bans was in cloth of gold, sumonuled by an aigrette in jewels worthy of a rajah. Another was in a striped tissue, gold and silver wound round so as to press the hair well for- ward on the forehead and ears, At the left side, appearing to hold a few of the folds, fras a wonderful antique clasp with jewels in barbario mingling of colours, emeralds and sapphires, opals and turquoises, and from it sprang an algretto of diamonds and emeralds, a superb piess of glitter. Were the jerrols, real? Perhaps The effect was excellent.

FUR IN THE QUIFFURE,

We have not seen many of the far-decked coiffures "over here In London, but in Paris

they are enjoying a huge success. A dy with quantities of white hair wore it dressed in rolls held down by white mother.o.pearl combs and prorge, and two flat pieces of ermino, one at either side of the tlat roll of hair. The effect of this, in combination with a anperbly-cut princess gown of claret velvet and nome splendid diamonds, may be better imagined thau described. Bable looks well in fair Inir, and even better in red or suburn, suiting the beaulife), clear skin that goes with hair of this colour. Is a pretty golden head. line or two of chinchilla made a very charming effect, an oxydised rose sat in the midst of a chou of snowy tulle a glitter with oxydised sequins.

Cat steel is coming in again for hair and neck ornamente, and a very pretty French actess has been wearing an effective not in one of her parts. Her hair is dono in the new comps t, yet softly fluffy style, and in front it is drawn down on the forehead in the centro, but leaves the height of the brow visible on the left side. A graduated bend of finest out steel holde the hair down in this position, and its glitter is responded to by that of a very handsome design embroidered in stoel upon a wide black velvet neckband. It fastens with a largo steel buckle at the back, and from this point come enda of narrow black velvet with appliques of embroidered steel, and ending in a tassel to match, Steel is far mois effectire than sequins in the hair or round the neck, but one wonders if it could over so glorify a grown as to elicit such a description sa Mr. William de Morgan bestows upon a sequline," asserted by a lady who did not wear it, us "Inexpourive," Bays the novelist :
