Britannia in 1966 and served as a naval cadet and midshipman in the Royal Navy four years, but entered the Army in 1974, joining the 8th Hassars and was transferred to the 19th Huas in which regiment he sorted in the Soudau cam- paign from 1884 to 1985 and took part in the actions of Ab Klea, Gubat, Metemme.
