AMERICAN DIVORCES.

NEW LEGISLATION.

It is authoritatively announced, reports the New York correspondent of the London Baily Telegraph, that three-minute divorce cases and Allent divorce, veces will shortly dis-

appear, not only as regards the great State of New York, but as regards other progressive States on this side of the Atlantic. Three minuts cases" are those matrimonial suits rushed through the court with lightning ve- locity, and secret divorces are those in bich, by

case are sealed," and consequently no the express order of the judge, the papere reports, not even the names, appear in the public Proes.

These cases have apparently scandalised the American public and the Legislature, and, as rogards New York State, legislation is promised which will possibly destroy tho alarming facilities. now afforded to rick Amgricans to Beauty divorces swiftly and sooretly. In theory, ordinary people, as well as great people, our sdopru sy divorcas here, but the fact remains and it is the core of the whole, question that apparently no person of ordinary mesas or abacuce station has ever been granted a three- minute divorce in New York.

The Textil Zeitung of Borlin entns up tas report in the Tory. Proms, Gazeta of the wool clip in Russia as follows: The shearing, except as regards the sheep bearing coarse wool, was favoured by the weather and the condition of the ground. It began in August and may be considered to have finished by the middle of September, old style. The weather, which hail boon cald and rainy in the early part of the summer; becsine dry and hot later on, with an even temperature which conduced to the growth of the wool. The yield on the whole reached a fair average, and in the Southera districts of the Don exceeded it. The Now Russian sheep produced on average quantity, but the quality, although the breed is considered to be the best of coarse wool sheep, is not thought much of, the dry weather, accompanied by strong winds, and the sparsa vegetation on the sheep walks, having affected it unfavourably, the Lecce containing met sand and grease. The south-eastern middle Asiatic sections of the Wolga district report an average yield with considerable deviations both shove and below. Ramus are stated to have given from 15 to 44 and even up to 54 lbs., according to the bresa and local conditions, and the common fem szie about 2 lbs., the usual quantity, Rams on the Don and in the Department of Worones, as also the New Russian ones, produced from 4 to 5 and even up to 6 lbs., the middle Asiatic sheep 2 to 3 lbs., and that of Bucharu as much as Tbs. The yield of the season is somewhat bolow that of last year in quantity, but superior in guailty. Taking the most important sections of the Don district comprising the Stoppes along the river and in the Woronesh Department, where shop. branding is conducted on a comparatively extensive scale, they have on the whole produced less than last avacon, which is partly accounted for by the decrease in the number of animals, consequent upon the extent of the -sheep walks being steadily reduced, partly to a deterioration in the breed; nevertheless, the yield is considered to be above the average in quantity, the percentage of dirt not exceeding the usual 10 to 12 per cent, even in sandy sec- tions. The demand for export to the United States has already sot in, whilst an enquiry on the part of Russian mills has to be noted as well; prices are quoted above those of last year, control a mule by holding its tongue.
