The British str. Hoiching reports: Frosh N.E. wind and moderate sen, clear weather.
The British str. Fooking reports: After leaving Singapors experienced light N'ly. to NE winds, with fine clear weather, and smooth sea to the Paracels, of 11 dogroes N.; here a Jong, drawn, East to N.E. swall was mots at 2.30 a.m, on October 30th, the vessel boing thon in 13 degrees to N. and 111.40 E, unmistaks able signs of a typhoon to the Eastword were indicatest, the engines were then put to slów. At 6 am, the barometer having fallan consider ably, and to wind from North having increased with heavy squalls, the vessel was turned to the Southward, and run Sonth for 50 miles. By 11 am. the wind had commoured to back to the West of North, and gradually handed to N.W., West, andse through S. W to South, the steamer being gradually brought road through East, till at 6 pm, the Northerly course was being slcered with rising barometer, and weather im- proving, lowest Bar, reading 2.37. From 16 N. to port strong N.E. monsoon gale with heavy son, and squally weather encountered.
