Aul as with every week the disorder grow worse and worse, I felt that in Ashort time I should be compelled to give up in despair.

But all the time this extraordinary fact held me to Tops, that although it was sometimes most dificult to distinguish what people in the same room as myself were saying to me, yet I could hear them quite painly whenever they were speaking to me over the phono," possibly from a distance of many miles,"

This fact hold me from the first. I thought, I experimented. I studied the matter in all its bearings. As the more I studied why I could bear people over the "phone"better than in ordinary conversation, the more convinced I Become that some adaptation of the principle of the telephone would enable my deaf ears to hear

HÓW I MADE MY DISCOVERY. It was while lying in bed one night that the question suddenly flashed across my inner соцесіндеев.

Why not a "phone" for the tweide of my deaf ears!

The inspiration was, so strong upon me that I instantly rose, dvosed, and fairly rushed to my workshop. Within twenty-four hours. I had before us, fully completed, a minute appliance, the effect of which on my hearing was ho mauifit that it made ine exclaim aload:

At last I have got it?”

I found that with the Ear Phone" I could hair porfectly. All roarings in the head ceased, I no longer lud to strain to catch every syllable. or to ask my friends to repost their remarks because I wouldn't hear what they said." My hearing was as good as in the days of my youth. Moreover, it was simple to wear, quite invisible, absolutely scifs, and caused no discomfort what er-rather the reverse. It fits easily and comfortably into the outer passage of the ear, whore it oon stitutes a perfect sounding-board, concentrating the sound waves upon the ear-drum. In fact, it sote to the ear of the "hard-of-hearing much as a pair of spectacles' act, to the eyes the short-sighted. It is an ear-speecacle.

Unlike many hearing dovicas, this "Ear- Paone" is quite non-irritating. In fact, after a few hours you quite forget you are wearing anything at all.
